WEATHER OR NOT...
Making the “GO/NO GO” Decision
A 2-Day IFR Refresher with A Special Focus On Weather.
Saturday-Sunday,
Call for dates
8:30 a.m.-4:00p.m.
Four aviation specialists/pilots each with more than three decades of aviation experience join together to present the most complete, concise and current learning experience.
Making The “Go/No Go” Decision
NOAA meteorologist / CFII, Larry Burch, will take you through planning the trip as well as gathering and analyzing weather data. As the weather changes, charts are reviewed individually and blended into the decision of go/no go for each leg of the flight just as he did for Burt Ratan’s “Voyager” world flight in 1986.
You Have To Know The Rules To Play The Game
Key IFR regulation misconceptions, chart interpretation and procedures will be revisited. Betty Jean Stanford, aviation specialist in ground and simulator training is the owner/chief ground instructor of BJS Pilot Ground School.
There Is More To GPS Than “Direct To”
As the IFR trip progresses, unstable changing weather draws on the pilot’s weather knowledge and ability to fly the route and altitude diversions. Ray Duncan, a retired international B-744 captain with years of flying and teaching GPS gives you valuable insights for a better command of satellite navigation. While the material will be Garmin 430/530 based, the information will apply to all GPS flight.
Talking With The Air Traffic Controller
Ask any pilot and the answer is the same...”I wish I could ask a controller what I should have done.” You will get the chance to have your questions answered by former air traffic controller/air traffic manager, Don Hensley. He will work you through your trip with emphasis on bringing you from Gate to Touchdown. Since retiring from the FAA, Don is a national aviation consultant.
